Digital Bridges – Intergenerational Digital Literacy for Seniors
Because staying connected shouldn’t be this hard.
Technology should never be a barrier to independence, connection or dignity. Our senior programming is designed to meet older adults exactly where they are – with patience, community and a curriculum built around the digital tools that matter most in their daily lives. Every program we offer to seniors is built by people who understand these challenges from the inside out.
Digital Bridges is open to any senior in Scarborough or Mississauga who wants to feel more confident and independent online. No experience needed – just curiosity and a willingness to try. We especially welcome newcomer seniors, seniors living on a fixed income and anyone who feels like the digital world has been moving a little too fast.
This is a free, community-based digital literacy program designed specifically for seniors in Scarborough and Mississauga. Whether you’ve never touched a smartphone or you just need help with the things that matter most – booking a doctor’s appointment online, video calling your grandchildren, protecting yourself from scams – Digital Bridges meets you where you are.
Sessions are small, friendly and held at local libraries and community centres near you. There’s no pressure, no jargon and no rushing. Just patient, step-by-step guidance from people who genuinely understand that learning something new takes time – and that it’s worth it.
What makes Digital Bridges different is who’s in the room. Sessions are co-facilitated by youth from the ACE Foundation and senior community members who have been through the same learning journey themselves. It’s not a classroom. It’s a community.
What We DO
Four progressive topics – at your pace, in your community:
First Steps – Getting comfortable with your smartphone, tablet or computer
Staying Connected – Video calls, email and keeping in touch with the people you love
Your Services, Your Control – MyServiceCanada, health portals, online banking and filling out forms digitally
Stay Safe Online – Recognizing scams, protecting your personal information and knowing what to do if something goes wrong

We deliver in Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and French alongside English.

Open Doors – Community Accessibility Awareness & Action
Because the world should work for everyone.
Open Doors is a community-based accessibility program that helps people identify the barriers around them – and helps organizations actually remove them.
We’ve all noticed it. The store door that fights back when you have a walker. The website that claims to be accessible but isn’t. The sign with contrast so low you have to squint. The banking app with fonts too faint to read. These aren’t inconveniences. For people with disabilities, they are daily barriers to participation in ordinary life. And most of them are completely solvable.
Open Doors works on two levels: raising awareness in the community and producing real change in the organizations that shape daily life. Led by Ocean Mulchand – a young founder with a disability who has navigated these barriers himself – and built on over 20 years of professional accessibility expertise, Open Doors brings something most accessibility programs don’t: the lived experience and the technical knowledge in the same room.
What We DO
Two streams, one mission – closing the gap between claimed and genuine accessibility:
Community Accessibility Walks – Guided walks in Scarborough and Mississauga where participants learn to identify physical and digital accessibility barriers in their own communities. You won’t just observe – you’ll document, discuss and discover what the law actually requires and how to report what isn’t working.
Digital Accessibility Workshops – Sessions teaching people with disabilities how to use the accessibility features built into the devices they already own and how to navigate digital services that don’t always work as advertized.
Organizational Accessibility Assessments – We work directly with community organizations to evaluate their physical spaces, digital presence and communications – and deliver a plain language roadmap for genuine improvement, not just compliance on paper.
Who It’s For
Open Doors is for people with disabilities who are tired of environments that don’t work for them. It’s for community members who want to understand what accessibility really means. And it’s for organizations – community groups, small businesses, schools – that want to do better for the people they serve.
We deliver in Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and French alongside English – because language barriers compound accessibility barriers and no one should be excluded twice.
